Minjerriba Respite Centre, operating since 1994, provides in-home and community services to eligible people (over 50 for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people; or over 65 for non-Indigenous people).  

Minjerriba Respite Centre aims to provide clients (and their carers/family) with a coordinated, flexible and timely service that meets their goals for independence and to enhance their lifestyle. Our Centre provides services that are client-centred and planned with clients (and their carers/families) to support their independence in their own home and to continue to be connected in the community.

The Services provided to eligible persons include:

• Centre-based respite - group based activities which could include activities in the Centre or day trips

• Domestic assistance - domestic cleaning of homes

• Personal care - showering, grooming and toilet and medication supports

• Meals - centre based meals or meals-on-wheels

• Nursing - to assist with in-home nursing care

• Client Transport - transport to access Services ie medical/health appointments or do undertake daily activities (shopping, pharmacy) or other approved activities

• Carer support - individual carer providing one-on-one  support to attend medical/health appointments or other daily activities

• Home and Yard Maintenance - Lawn mowing and gardening

• Carer information/advocacy
